Post-doctoral research position (2 months) in Computational Materials Science



As part of an Excellence Research project, cofunded by the European Union and the Greek state, which is supervised by Dr. Iosif Galanakis a 2 months fully funded postdoctoral position is available which should begin 01 Αugust 2015 the earlier/01 September 2015 the latest. Net salary is about 1600€ per month. The research project is entitled "Heusler alloys based heterostructures showing perpendicular magnetic anisotropy for spintronic applications". The project is cofundedby the European Union (European Social Fund) andthe Greek State under the "ARISTEIA II" Action of the "OPERATIONAL PROGRAMME EDUCATION AND LIFELONG LEARNING . Project focus on the modeling of the magnetic and electronic properties of interfaces between Heusler compounds and binary ferromagnets which would offer new functionalities in spintronic/magnetoelectronic devices. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Dr. Iosif Galanakis, Associate Professor at the Department of Materials Science at the University of Patras (http://www.matersci.upatras.gr/en/Galanakis).
Your Qualifications
The ideal candidate should hold a PhD degree in computational materials science or a related field. A strong technical and scientific background in ab-initio electronic structure calculations is also mandatory. Other qualities which will be also evaluated include: i) the field of Basic studies, ii) publications in international scientific journals,, and iii) interview if needed. Simulating magnetic materials with Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction There is an immediate opening for a Scientist position in the Materials Science and Engineering Department, Institute of High Performance Computing, Singapore. We are looking for a   candidate who is strong in magnetic materials simulations using density-functional theory.
